Been Everywhere, Gone Nowhere

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

Regardless of who you are, there has been a stage in your life where you feel that you have been everywhere, but gone nowhere. Adversity and timing usually act in a quite seemingly sequential manner. An act or maybe a reminder that bad things usually come at a time when you least expect it. From a young age I literally had no drive, no self worth, no sense of anything, except to escape my own thoughts, at large brought on by attempting to integrate myself into a society that had no place for kids that possessed my kind of attitude. Constant anger ignited by the daily struggle of growing up in a household that was so negative, you could literally place even money bets on the violence that would take place each day, and double your money every time. Attempting to weave my way through an erupting volcano every single night, is an experience I don’t miss.

Growing up with adversity made me take it as gospel, I believed it was normal. It never came at the worst time, because it was always there.

As I sit here today, in the worst financial crisis I have ever been in, having served 4 years in the Army, deployed overseas, gained valuable life experience on many different levels, worked FIFO in one of Australia’s most remote towns, then coming back home to almost an entire year of nightshift (in a tunnel) earning ridiculous amounts of money along the way, I cannot help but think to myself I have literally been everywhere, and gone nowhere.

If there’s one thing I have learnt from my experience, it’s the saying adapt and overcome. Draw motivation from anywhere that you have to so that you stay on top of your thoughts, your mind is the most powerful organ in the human body, it is capable of things you cannot even imagine, I have been faced with some incomprehensible challenges in my life, but I have managed to get through every single one, I am no longer the kid that had no drive, no self worth, no sense of anything, I am now the man that fights for what he believes in, the man that will never give up, no matter how hard the circumstance, I have learnt to speak up, and I now posses the skill to overcome my thoughts. You possess the same strength; you just have to believe in yourself.
